Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Canadian Armed Forces Veterans who live with chronic pain

LAY SUMMARY Chronic pain is more frequent in military Veterans than the general population. The objective of this study was to assess whether COVID-19 pandemic has had a greater impact on Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who live with chronic compared non-Veterans. An online survey adults conducted between April and May 2020; 76 respondents reported having formerly served CAF were similar About two thirds been living for longer 10 years. Two worsened since began. Nearly half experienced moderate severe psychological distress. These changes those non-Veterans pain. A significant number changed their treatments due pandemic. In summary, associated restriction measures did not have However, supports are needed be better prepared waves come future health crises.
